TIME MACHINE ONE - February 12, 2017

Keith Quillen (Incidental Music for Eyelid Movies) and Howard T. (AEJOTZ) are artists with numerous similarities. Both were guitarist/songwriters who also loved synth/electronic music and who began experimenting with their own synths in the late 1970s and early '80s respectively. Both were fans of '70s synth pioneers like Isao Tomita and Larry Fast (Synergy).

This week's episode of Satellite 5 takes us back in time to some real old-school synth music, the kind that pre-dates '80s synth-pop. Keith and Howard dug deep into their music vaults for some of their earliest work, recorded on genuine analog tape (the recorders were probably steam-powered). Keith played a '74 Minimoog. Howard played a Casio MT-65 and a Syndrum.

[I'm calling this episode Time Machine One in hope that other artists will dig up some early efforts for later Time Machine episodes.]
